Windows NT 4.0 Remote Access Errors
Description:
Access is denied.
More Info:
This error should not occur under normal circumstances. Restart your computer to
make sure that all recent configuration changes have taken effect. If the error
persists, consult the Windows NT event log for detailed warnings or errors.
A possible cause of this error is that the connection was rejected by the remote computer because the remote computer has exceeded its client license limit. Contact your system administrator to buy more client licenses or point you to a different remote computer.
Solution:
Had the user name set to administrator.
Unsave the username and password and retype the right username and password.
Description:
The data link was terminated by the remote machine.

You can enable automatic redialing through the User Preference Dialing tab. See Redial Setting.

User entered something in the domain field of the Connect dialog box.
Solution:
Remove anything in the domain field, if that doesn't work, remove and recreate

call waiting. Replace the phone cord between the computer and the wall. Remove

Make sure the modem is plugged in and turned on. Make sure the modem
initialization string is correct. Make sure the modem was correctly identified
by Windows NT.
If the customer has Voice Messaging on their phone line, make sure there are no
waiting messages.

User just got a new modem, and it was installed correctly in the control panel.
But his old 14.4 was still present in RAS setup. Had to remove it (from RAS),
hit add, and choose his newly installed one. Then it wanted to reboot. Did so.
Worked fine.

No PPP Control Protocols configured.

Either there are no PPP network control protocols configured or the entry for
the corresponding network protocol is not installed. This error may occur when
the type of network protocol is changed during the product upgrade process.
Correct the entry by checking the desired protocols in the PPP section of the
network protocol settings phonebook entry dialog box. If you intentionally
cleared all protocols to force a down-level RAS connection, this error indicates
the NetBEUI protocol used for down-level connections is not installed.
Cause:
TCP/IP not selected as the dial-out protocol in the phone book entry.
Solution:
Edit the phone book entry on the remote access client used to dial out to the
TCP/IP PPP server. Select Network, PPP, and verify that TCP/IP is the only
protocol selected.

request of the remote computer. Most likely an error occurred on the server.
Solution:
Open dialup networking. click the more button and then select edit entry and
modem properties. under the security tab, make sure that the box labeled
"accept any authentication, including clear text" is checked.
Description:
TCP/IP CP reported error 735. The requested address was rejected by the server.

The client is configured to request a specific IP address. The server is not
configured to permit clients requesting specific IP addresses or the specific IP
address may already be in use by another client.

TCP/IP CP reported error 738: The server did not assign an address.

The server was unable to assign an IP address to the client from the pool of
addresses allocated. Try a specific IP address on the client that will not cause
a conflict on the remote network.

The authentication protocol required by the remote server cannot use the Windows
NT encrypted password. Redial, entering the password explicitly.

I was able to fix this by making sure that the password was saved. Re-enter the
password and try again.
